Are you interested in becoming a committee member and playing a much more active role within the community?
Committee members typically spend 10-12 hours on average per month on SDMM related tasks and activities but can spend a lot more, particularly close to major events.
SDMM committee election process, rules and responsibilities of committee members are described in detail in our constitution.
In order to increase awareness of the election process among SDMM members and to encourage participation in committee work, we are providing the following highlights:

- Committee tenure is Jan 1 through Dec 31 of every year.
- Election for the new committee is conducted at the Diwali function/event with attending members choosing a committee "panel".
A Committee can govern for a maximum of 2 consecutive years before handing over control to a “new” committee which is defined as a committee which has at least 50% members that were not part of the outgoing committee.
- There can be 4 to 16 committee members with the following 3 executive officers nominated among themselves at the time of election - President, Secretary and Treasurer.
- To be on the committee, you have to be a member of SDMM at the time of election or obtain membership within 30 days.
